A plethora of things to say today...

On the Cubs Game:
Last night was supposed to be easy. We were about ready to put on our coats in the eighth inning to go out and celebrate with the throngs of Cubs fans in the streets. And then the geek. The little schmuck who interfered in a play and kept the Cubs from getting an out, and in my opinion, upsetting the rhythm of the game. After the incident the Marlins scored 8 runs in one inning. The kid had to be escorted out of Wrigley Field with a shirt over his head by security. Unfortunately for him his picture is all over the news.

So now we go to game 7. It's do or die tonight.
Go CUBS!

On Drinking:
So I drank last night - in moderation. My brother pointed out that this is a really bad time to try to cut out drinking. I agreed. I truly believe that I do not have a serious problem with drinking. I have more of a serious problem with getting caught up in the moment and not wanting the fun to end. Last night I had 5 beers and called it a night after the game ended and I feel just fine today.

On my neighborhood:
There was a murder last Friday less than a mile from me. Some gangland asses killed a store owner. They caught the guy, and police presence has been much more noticeable since. This morning as I was waiting for the bus there was a crowd of round type men about a quarter block away from me. I paid them no mind and they left me alone. Soon though a cop came by and slowly drove toward them and then stayed there until the dispersed - all in my direction. Thanks Mr. Police Officer - way to keep me safe. Thanks alot.

On men:
What is, in my opinion, THE mating season in Chicago is almost over and I'm still single. *shrug* Oh well. At least I can stop worrying about it and go about my normal business.

I do need a man though:
My #*@($(!&%& tire went flat two days ago, and I don't have a spare because last time I had a flat I put on the spare and drove on it for about 2 months until IT went flat and then I drove on it to the mechanic and destroyed it. So now I have to get my car towed. I'm especially pissed at myself because I knew I was overdue for tires and yet put it off. As I've said before, the reason I need a husband is car maintenance. I can handle bugs. I can handle the VCR (ok that's a lie - I can't handle the VCR), I can handle traveling alone. But I CAN NOT handle keeping my car in working condition.

Interesting Pick-up method buddy:
I saw this guy on the train this morning doing card tricks for a woman and telling her all about his magic. It was obvious that he was trying to pick her up by the gazillion questions he was asking her, "Where do you work?", "Is this your normal train?", etc. It didn't look like she bought it. Note to all you boys looking out there. Magic tricks? Way too juvenile. Not going to work.

On the Cubs:

Wouldn't it just really really suck if it ended up being a Florida / New York World Series? That will so piss me off.

On murder:

Had a murder down the street, literally, from where i live a couple of months back. Loony harvard kid killed a puerto rican kid. Crazy.

Good luck tonight!

I agree that the fan in the seats probably should have backed off, but I think most people would have done just what he did. I don't think you can blame him for leaving Prior in too long and I know you can't blame him for the shortstop booting the ball. I think Kerry will win it for the Cubs tonight. It was probably all a ratings ploy my MLB to make it go 7 games ;-)

Murph, I'm so sorry about the Cubs. I was really rooting for them, too.
