Whatever crosses Eli's mind or indeed crosses Eli.... November 11, 2003Quick and Random Thoughts1. Urgh moment: Whoever decided that fleece track pants were an acceptable streetwear item for men should be shot. No-one should be subjected to such views on the early morning DART. 2. Nano Update: Week 2, and I've hit the wall. All the characters have been pretty much introduced and now I'm stuck in that no-man's middle part of the plot. I've just killed off the main characters best friend in a particularly nasty way though so that might help unblock the story. If nothing else it gives me an additional 200 words describing the amount of blood on the road. Word count: 26k or thereabouts. 3. Neil Gaiman: For those who care, but missed my post on P45, Neil Gaiman will be in the Dublin Bookshop on Grafton Street next Monday the 17th at 7pm reading from 'Wolves in the Walls' and 'Coraline.' 4. Countdown: Eight days left in Hell, and then I'm free! So long as there are no more delays. 5. The Spike: Has now become exactly what I said it would. A great hulking pile of metal. In case you haven't noticed the top 11 metres of the spire no longer lights up to 'cast a glow upon the city.' No folks, we've bought ourselves the most useless hunk of metal in the world. Word is they are getting a consultant in from Europe to explain the problem. Can you imagine the money he is on to say 'Yep, the bulb has blown.' "unblock the story"? Sounds like you need the literary equivalent of Mr Muscle, Eli! Posted by: micko at November 11, 2003 02:53 PMWell, it's better than a Ronan Keating song. The thought of it is making baby jesus puke blood. Posted by: The GosFish at November 12, 2003 11:50 AMHey, I walked from Heuston Station to O'Connell St. last Tuesday to see the Spike and was suitably impressed. I spent so much time looking up at the spike that I almost forgot to keep looking out for pickpockets & muggers. I think the Spike is a wonderful thing for us rural folk to come up and gawk at. We were getting tired of the Wax museum and Dublin Zoo. Posted by: Niall at November 15, 2003 02:24 PMPost a comment
